I’m throwing a wedding celebration–and you’re invited!

It started on Sullivan’s Island, just outside of Charleston, SC. I introduced you to my literary family–Marietta Muir (Mamaw) and her granddaughters Carson, Eudora, and Harper. That was the summer of 2013 and my novel The Summer Girls marked the beginning of the Lowcountry Summer series. It’s been a labor of love, four years in the making—with The Summer Wind and The Summer’s End.

I knew their lives would change during that remarkable summer at Sea Breeze, Mamaw’s summer home. I knew the secrets they would reveal…the challenges they would face…the storms they would weather…and the bonds that would be made.

A Lowcountry WeddingWhat I didn’t predict was how their lives would eventually lead to — A LOWCOUNTRY WEDDING (on sale May 3rd)!

So…we are celebrating the release of this wedding novel in an extra special way! I’m giving one lucky engaged couple the ultimate gift–a FREE dream wedding in Charleston, SC. #WinALowcountryWedding

We’ve provided the venue, the catering, the dress, the flowers and so much more. All you have to do is enter the contest at: maryalicemonroe.com/weddingcontest Entry deadline is May 31st. Finalists will be announced June 13th. And then YOU, the public, will vote on the winning couple!

We could not have offered this fabulous event without all the amazing and generous Charleston wedding vendors who have made this dream wedding prize a reality. They are among the very best in the Charleston wedding industry and are a proud part of what constitutes A Lowcountry Wedding. I am so grateful to them all!

Now imagine this…

It’s your wedding day! Your custom invitations by Studio R are out, RSVP’s are in and the big day begins. You are a bride! You’ll start by having your and your bridesmaids’ hair, makeup, and nails done by Stox & Co and Salon Salon. Then filled with excitement you are off to your dream-filled wedding and reception at the historic plantation, the Legare Waring House. There, you’ll meet your wedding planner, Ashley Rhodes, who will graciously guide you through your special day.

Soon you’ll be glowing wearing your exquisite bridal gown designed by Kate McDonald Bridal, wearing a piece of wedding jewelry by Croghan’s Jewel Box, and carrying an incredible bouquet designed by Wildflowers, Inc. The moment arrives…. Your perfectly selected ceremony music begins to play by Charleston Virtuosi and your bridesmaids look beautiful walking up the aisle in dresses by LulaKate. You take a breath, fix your smile and step forward. Waiting at the altar, your groom, who looks so handsome standing by his groomsmen in attire by Charleston Tuxedo, complete with the coveted, handcrafted feather bow ties by Brackish (worn by Bill Murray to the Oscars). You walk toward him, photographed by Riverland Studios. Joining hands, you face officiant Christy Loftin for your vows.

You’re married! Congratulations! Let the party begin!

Your reception at the Legare Waring House is a dream come true. Everything looks magical in the magnificent plantation house setting with picture-perfect furniture and rental supplies in place by EventWorks. Your guests enjoy food by Charleston favorite Cru Catering and drinks from Squeeze Cocktail & Beverage Catering. The ceremonious toast features “A Lowcountry Wedding” signature cocktail by Firefly Distillery. You and your guests dance to music by DJ Jake B. And, like my character Carson, you will enjoy original wedding cupcakes by Sweet Lulu’s Bakery on Wheels. When at last you are ready for your honeymoon, bid farewell to your guests, toss the bouquet and climb into a luxury vehicle by Carolina Executive Limo to head off to your wedding night at the historic John Rutledge House Inn in the heart of downtown Charleston.

The prize package makes me swoon. If only Markus and I could get married again…

My new novel, A LOWCOUNTRY WEDDING, is the fourth in the Lowcountry series (on sale May 3). The book highlights what is a lowcountry wedding. There are the unique venues–the sultry beauty of the seaside wedding ceremony and the charms of the old southern plantation wedding. But also importantly, in Charleston we have the history, traditions, values, and sense of place that adds to the allure for weddings. After all, weddings are a time of protocol, traditions and manners, of bringing family together, of good food and special moments. A time to create memories that endure a lifetime. As Mamaw told her granddaughters in A LOWCOUNTRY WEDDING, “Isn’t that what a wedding is all about? The gathering of family. The sharing of stories. The linking of arms. For better or for worse.”

I believe readers will understand why Charleston is the #1 wedding destination in America after reading A LOWCOUNTRY WEDDING. And if you need help planning your own Lowcountry wedding, I recommend the Charleston Area Wedding Guide. It’s a free, wonderful resource.

Get caught up in the excitement of wedding season and enjoy!

With love,

Mary Alice Monroe

Hello,

Are you going to have any other events with Brides in Charleston?
My daughter, Emily Caroline Floyd is getting married on June 11, 2016. Many of her friends are “getting married” this spring and into summer. It would be special to have an signing or event for the many brides and their mothers that are readers.
Just an idea and we loved the excerpt that we got at the Dunes Literacy Event, and can’t wait for the book!

I AM USUALLY WITH THE CHATTANOOGA GROUP THAT SAW YOU AT LITCHFIELD AT PAWLEYS .I HAD TO COME HOME EARLY FOR A GRANDDAUGHTERS COLLEGE GRADUATION. I AM ALSO THE ONE WHO BROUGHT THE BOOK TO CANDY A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. I HATED TO MISS SEEING YOU BUT I ORDERED THE NEW BOOK BEFORE THE TRIP KNOWING I WAS GOING TO MISS YOU. I HAVE JUST FINISHED IT AND I LOVED IT!! I’LL MISS ALL THOSE SUMMER GIRLS! LOOKING FORWARD TO ONE ABOUT TAYLOR AND HIS DOG!

I love your Muir sisters books. I’ve read them all and can’t wait to read the next one. I live up North in Rhode Island but my heart is in Charleston, SC. My first visit was in 2012 and I’ve returned every year since. I would love to move to Charleston but I have four grandbabies that I just can’t live without. You know how that feels. When they call me NONNA (italian) my heart melts. Keep on writing because I will certainly keep on reading.
Thank you,
Debra

SOOOOOO…..Excited about this contest….Thank you for hosting it!….Cant wait till they pick the finalists…Good Luck to everyone that entered…

P.S. Read the book in one day….could not put it down….My daughter took 2 days…LOL

I bought 3 copies of this book at the Timrod Library in Summerville, SC.
I gave one signed copy of this book to each of my 2 nieces that are getting married on June 18th
at Magnolia Plantation and the other on August 19th Downtown in the MUSC chappel.

These two neices are sisters and look so much alike! I could not finish this Lowcountry Wedding
read soon enough. I hope they enjoy the book when they have a chance to read it.

By the way they have a brother getting married next year in March. Love is in the air in Charleston! Enjoy

Wedding fever in your family! How exciting. Thank you for sharing my novel with everyone. I hope they enjoy it. Cheers to love and marriage!

When do the top 5 finalists get announced??
It said the 13th, but it didn’t happen yet 🙁

Once again I have stayed up until 3:00 a.m. to finish your latest book A Low Country Wedding. I start out slow to make your books last but towards the end I start galloping through to finish feeling every emotion of every charactor. I have read ALL of your books in the last six years. Thank you for making Low Country so real in your books that I had to discover it for myself and now love it as much as you do. In fact we just sold our house in NC and moved to a house inMurrells Inlet that is on the marsh. My favorite perfume is Pluff Mud and ocean, I was brought up with both as a child in NY. Thank you for being as real as your books, always educating your readers about marine life and psychology of human nature. My only disagreement with your Low Country Wedding was that I could never have walked away from a dolphin that saved my life.

I keep missing your tours, I was in the middle of moving for your latest ne to my area but hope to someday meet you and give you the biggest of hugs. I love the Muir sisters and hope you have one more book that includes them.

Thank you also for teaching your readers about such places as the turtle hospital at the Charleston Aquarium and the Bird Of Prey sanctuary. I would never have known about them otherwise and have visited both.

Thank you, Zelda, for your special note. It fills me with joy to hear how much you enjoy my novels. I hope you can attend a future signing event. I’ll be at Buxton Books on 7/28, 6:30 PM in downtown Charleston signing A LOWCOUNTRY WEDDING. We’ll celebrate with signature cocktails from the novel too. Join us for the fun! I’ll also be on tour this fall to promote my next novel, A LOWCOUNTRY CHRISTMAS, the continuation of the Lowcountry Series.

Mary Alice Monroe
