Summer Reflections: Celebrating Past Events
On July 28th, The Club at Wild Dunes hosted the enchanting “The Islanders’ Big Al Birthday Party” at the Wild Dunes Swim Center, making it only the second children-focused event following its successful debut in 2022.
This event, organized by The Club at Wild Dunes, marked the paperback release of “Search for Treasure” from The Islanders series by local authors Mary Alice Monroe and Angela May. The day was filled with poolside games, an inflatable pirate ship, crafts, snacks, and a book signing, highlighting not only “Big Al” from The Islanders but also “Mr. Gator Hits the Beach,” a popular local picture book.
The Village Bookseller was on hand for book purchases and signings. After a captivating story time with Julie McLaughlin and Ann Marie McKay, Monroe and May engaged the children with a riddle from their book. The celebration continued with cake pops, a special appearance by Big Al, and a pool treasure hunt, creating a delightful and memorable experience for the young attendees and their families.
