Book Talk Dinner WITH MARY ALICE MONROE Raises Nearly $114k for Foothills Humane Society

The national tour for my newest novel, Where the Rivers Merge, began in the most beautiful way — with a special Book Talk Dinner hosted by longtime Foothills Humane Society (FHS) supporters Cindy and John Boyle at their Freehold Farm in Campobello, SC.

Guests enjoyed a Lowcountry-themed menu catered by The Hare and the Hound, paired with wine donated by Mountain Brook Vineyards, as we shared heartfelt conversation about the novel’s celebration of the early 1900s South Carolina Lowcountry.

As a passionate animal advocate, I was honored to express my support for the Foothills Humane Society’s mission, saying, “If you care, you take care.”

Perhaps it’s a reminder that we can all find ways to support our own local humane societies — from volunteering, to donating, to simply spreading the word about their important work. Thanks to the generosity of Cindy, John, and all who attended, the evening raised an incredible $113,992 for FHS — a testament to the community’s love for animals and literature alike.
