Our dear friend, and one of the original co-founders and co-hosts of Friends & Fiction, Mary Alice Monroe, has a new book out this week! SHIPWRECKED is the third and final installment in the children’s middle grade trilogy Mary Alice penned with co-author Angela May.

The previous two books in the trilogy, THE ISLANDERS and SEARCH FOR TREASURE, have landed #2 and #3 on the New York Times Middle Grade bestseller list and THE ISLANDERS recently won the Triple Crown Award for Children’s Literature. SHIPWRECKED, the highly anticipated conclusion to this beloved series, has been called “a powerful coming-of-age tale” in a glowing review from Kirkus Reviews.

We hope you will snap up some copies of SHIPWRECKED to gift to all the middle grade readers in your life who are fresh out of school with lots of free reading time on their hands. We think this dynamic survival story makes for the perfect summer reading to whisk kids away to the beach while learning about our fragile coastal ecosystem and the fascinating plant, bird, and sea life who call it home.

Buy your copy from the F&F Shop on Bookshop.org HERE.

Signed copies can be purchased through, Buxton Books in Charleston, SC, Blue Bicycle Books in Charleston, SC, The Storybook Shoppe in Bluffton, SC, and Main Street Reads in Summerville, SC.

About the Book

Jake Potter’s biggest dream finally comes true: he gets his very own boat! And it’s just in time for another summer of fun on Dewees Island with his best friends, Macon and Lovie. But on their very first fishing trip, the three friends go adrift at sea. When a storm carries them to a small, uninhabited island, the kids must use every ounce of their strength, courage, and knowledge to survive as they wait for rescue. Will their friendship survive the ultimate test?
